With every new innovative environmental idea, geological findings, proprietary advancement or successfully leading people through change; women around the world have been at the source of advancing the future. From the men who stood beside them, their mentors who saw their greatness and their families and fellow women who championed for their success. Today women are embracing the opportunities that were once male dominated and moving through the gaps of inequality to rise up and lead the way for our future generation.   Equal opportunity for women has come a long way and yet globally women only account for approx 8-17% of the global mining workforce, only 1 in 4 leaders in manufacturing are women, out of the largest companies less than 10% of women have CEO positions with less than 2% being Indigenous or women of color. The gap in gender equality is massive and unless today’s organizations implement a plan to close this gap there will be a decline in unique transformational ideas and superior leadership values.
